To sidetrack a bit on IPv6 support… I’ve been asking our upstreams about IPv6 support for at least five years. I *think* we are finally to the point that I can get an IPv6 assignment, configure things, start beating on the upstreams to support it and it might actually happen.
When we got our own ASN and multi-homed the network, one of the upstreams had to do a bit of configuration to be able to support a 32bit ASN. As for remaining competitive, that assumes there is competition now. We have three fibre networks on the poles in front of our facility. For our area, being able to pick two of three is highly unusual. Things move a bit slower out here in the backwaters of the information highway.
