it is not common to see IP number resources included in legal documents
in the case of mergers or acquisitions, but it is common in the case of the
sale or divestiture of business units.   

As you might imagine, things can get quite colorful when a company breaks 
into multiple pieces, particularly if there is no guidance in the legal 
contracts
and overlapping use of number resources…
