That would really set the device apart Andrew.  I searched for a camera that 
saves video in webm once.  I could only find the Elphel camera, which is 
expensive and requires further work to make it usable as a stand-alone cam.

btw i believe/hope its possible to use hardware encoders for vp8/9. with
ingenic’s generic hw encoder, i guess its a matter of software?
if not what about theora?

cus with these formats, commercial operations using the camera dont have
to pay protection money to mpeg-la mafia :)
