We're in freeze so updates aren't going stable for the compose but
being a dev release updates-testing is enabled by default, this is
expected.

Which device? I'm presuming a RPi of some sort but  you don't specify.
Is it plugged into a monitor with a HDMI interface or a TV ie one that
has audio over HDMI or one that does not? I suspect the later, and if
so mostly just noise.
