Hi Jeffrey, Feel free to reach out to me on freenode (dgilmore), I do not have a huge amount of time but I can help you get started in working on u-boot. We have a mostly upstream u-boot and work to get all patches upstream. Getting engaged upstream will also be a necessary step.
