Hi,
I updated from 7.7 on my olimex board (uboot on mmc and efi stuff and
the system on a sata harddrive) (been updated many times before)

It expired that on rebooting after the update the /bsd kernel was not to be
found.

On examination of the hardrive everything looked right except the size of
/bsd was at 0 bytes.
and /home/_sysupgrade was still populated.

after copying the /bsd across the system booted but could not relink the
kernel.

reorder_kernel: failed -- see /usr/share/relink/kernel/GENERIC/relink.log
----
the log complained about a missing SHA256 checksum. And the /bsd file in
that subdirectory was at 0 bytes.
After doing what the log message advised and rebooting it went through
sysmerge and wiped the sets an everything works fine now, except that
syspatch is no longer functional since that is not catered for any
longer in the new release.

WILD GOOSE:
Has the bootfailure on first boot anything to do with the missing SHA
checksum in the syspatch directory on the server???

Much happiness to all of you!
j.
