I am not using any installer. I develop with your slackware install on a 4gb SD card (USB dongle) and when I am ready to roll my stuff together, I do a minimal install onto another card with what I need (no development), roll a JFFS2 on my Slackware desktop and make sure everything looks perfect then transfer that back to the development SD card (ftp/nfs/whatever) and burn it into NAND typically while the 4gb SD card is booted. I roll my own kernel and strip out anything but what I essentially need (typically no modules except maybe a future need), test booting from the 4gb SD card, then burn to NAND. I do not use initrd in my final installs and then the plug just stands alone like it's supposed to be.

I can fit most stuff into 70mb leaving alot of the 512 NAND free for future. I have compiled qemu and run an Intel slackware on ARM (for proprietary software with no ARM counterpart) with the virtual disk in under 40mb. So that's 110mb total. That leaves room for web server files or a database, etc.
