Hi All,
Im usually a silent observer in this group...bcos IM LAZYYY :) But
this discussion thats been going on for a while has made me type a
few lines.Im a big ARR fan but I try my best not to be biased and
treat music by merit and not by composer.

So from what I got from all the Hula Gula..Pavan says ARR
lifts/copies old popular tunes and packages them with modern
engineering tech.Well, lets see to say a SONG is copied means..ALL of
it should be DITTO to another. And as far as my memory goes no song of
ARR has been a DITTO reproduction throughout.

Maybe some SIDE tunes like the 'Margazhi Poove flute part' is the
same. And personaly I love such blends!!! This makes a guy like
me..who is kind of lame with carnatic knowledge to admire it.Its a
concept similar to what shown in 'sindhu bairavi'.'Nanoru sindhu'
instead of 'Marri mari nine' reaches the COMMON ppl.Likewise these
kind of fusions of ORIGINAL carnatic tunes with ARR's own 'original'
creations helps the COMMON also receive the classical in a subtle
way! So I feel these 'lifts or inspirations' however each of us opine
about them is GOOD.Whats the use of SUPERIOR knowledge of ANYTHING
without it being able to reach the common?? Cos only such a situation
can bring IMPROVEMENT and without improvement there can be no
prosperity! which is Y India is as is it today -:) (Sorry dudes..THE
BOSE patriot effect!)

Yes...FUSION has been the stronpoint of ARR and no one can deny his
versatality / range of musical flavors. If his music appeals to the
international audience its bcos he accepts other musical forms
without any superiority bias and blends them in his music.Whether its
bcos the technology is available to him or not, the way ARR uses
different sounds in his compositions has always fascinated me.Its
like conveying that every soundform if used and perceived in the
right perspective can produce lovable music. This taken and
intrepreted as a philosophy for life can mean every thing that
happens around U can be perceived in a positive way 'to me atleast'
:) Or maybe Im TOO EMOTIONAL IN A CREEPY WAY!! -:)

TASTE / LIKING are relative.Carnatic maybe divine for south indians
and metal might be divine for western party freaks. If one can blend
the 2 and make the southies and party freaks dance at the same
time..isn't it amazing?? yes..he is surely a good sound engineer. But
to say he is NOT CREATIVE in composing original tunes would be
cruel!! One cannot sell the most number of CDs..without 'saraku'.

If one wanted they can always find a fault or matching tune from a
composition from any music director and also provide reasons for the
same. And we can go on and confuse the situation further by again
'questioning the reason'.Instead of us fighting over proving our
beliefs and opinions right...why not just appreciate and respect
eachothers and move on? So Pavam..maybe ARR lifted some tunes as
such...but for some reason it appeals to millions and we like him for
this 'lifting and blending'! Hope U wont mind us enjoying this
wonderful blend of music :) Too much tlak for a LAZY fan..yet I hope
I had some sensible points to make!

cheers,
Hari
