How does he DO IT??? I believe the ONE thing that makes Rahman what he is, is his spiritual approaches towards his professional as well his personal career. His relentless commitment and dedication to do whatever he does to the best of his abilities and satisfaction. His attitude to respect and give due credits to his fellow colleagues. His desire to learn more, as he aptly puts it himself ".the search is more important than the destination". The belief in his self and his creator is what that provides him the courage to experiment and take risks, not to always follow the established routines. I recently saw his interview in the documentary taken by German TV about Indian Music (thanks to the nice members in this team for sharing that video file), wherein he reflected his state of mind, the preparedness to go back to where he started, any time. He never credits himself for what he is today and gives it all back to where it came from, the almighty. He never looses his temper and keeps his cool, irrespective of what the world around him says. This is precisely what brings out his divine creations. The soulful composition that can go deeper into your soul and rekindle your state of mind, bring in the joy that you can nurture forever. That's the reason, to write his creative compositions, Rahman always prefer to be in a lonely state of mind, un-disturbed, preferably the quite night hours. Recently, Varttina, the Finnish folk music composers (co-composers together with Rahman for LOTR Musicals) commented in an interview that Rahman always composes his Music alone and then the additional mixing and arrangements are done jointly with them and were full of praise for his creative compositions. There are quite a lot to learn from this simple man, the one who can keep millions of music lovers happy with his wonderful compositions and still is un-disturbed by the fame. I too believe that Rahman is underrated in India. Giving due credits to those true Music lovers who sincerely appreciate his good works, most of his good work has gone unnoticed in the recent times. Let us sincerely hope for the times when his amazing talents are more openly appreciated and recognized in India and overseas. I firmly believe LOTR and WOHE will truly bring his talents to the world light.
