I was listening to the female voice humming in 'Na Tum Jano Na Hum' from Kaho Naa Pyar Hai today and I was thinking if the female (or male) voice was ever used like an instrument in musical interludes in movie songs, in any language in India, before ARR had Chitra hum in 'Kadhal Rojave' and he himself sang Yelelo bit in 'Chinna chinna Asai.' All songs I can remember don't have anything like that. Interludes were all based on instruments as far as I know. Can anybody give an example of vocals used in interludes prior to Roja?
