Well Rahman indirectly worked with the Chopra production house with Saathiya...I don't know if he will work with Yash Chopra himself, but perhaps Aditya Chopra may use him for a movie he might direct in the future. As for Karan Johar, he had trouble with finding a music director for K3G, and used 3 different music directors in that movie: Jatin-Lalit, Aadesh Shrivastava and Sandesh Shandilya. Anu Malik was brought in briefly for K3G but was not used as he couldn't deliver the goods. Karan Johar used Shankar Ehsan Loy for his production, Kal Ho Na Ho and and is using them for his next, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna. If they falter in this next effort (which I don't think they will), Johar might switch to another MD for future productions. Here's a list of some directors I'd like ARR to work with in the future:
David Dhawan - most of his movies are crap, but the songs are 'fun'. I love Rahman's fast numbers and would love to see what kind of numbers he would compose for David Dhawan. Yash Chopra - Yash Chopra has a keen ear for music. His romantic candyfloss films from the 70s till now have had excellent music. It would be interesting to hear Rahman's stamp on such an effort. Sanjay Leela Bhansali - though most of his movies are derivative, he makes movie on a lavish scale and they look pretty nice on film. The music in his movies has been pretty could and I'd love to hear what they would come up with. Shah Rukh Khan - He's produced a few movies in his time, and they have had pretty good music. I just finished listening to Paheli, the latest SRK production, with music by MM Kreem and lyrics by Gulzar - it's pretty darn good.
