Hi Bharathidasan,

Thanks for your reply.

Oh my! This is making me very jealous :) Both are very excellent
synths, I played both in a local guitar center and was blown away by
what they can do!

When you say it has excellent sample library, do you mean its included
with halion or we need to purchase them separately. This brings me to
my next question. I prefer to avoid having to buy many samples later
(as much as possible) as each VSTi is going to bring up the cost high
and may get pretty expensive in the end. Mainly I am only looking for
good acoustic instruments with great piano sound and orchestral
instruments as well as few good percussion sets. Of all these
different software synths (< $500) which you've tried, which one has
the best samples collection built into them?

I think with each new version i think the gap between sequencer s/w
and synth s/w gets narrower, many I believe do work as both VST host
and as sequencer. Btw, does cubase itself come with samples library?
If yes, how are they ?

I have heard of this one before, especially the demo pieces created by
users with this sounds pretty amazing! I will definitely give it a
try.

I have read some mixed reviews about GS. Most people seem to like it a
lot and only drawback I come across everywhere is it mostly requires
to be installed on a separate pc (and this could be a serious drawback
for some). It seems to have issues when other mixer/rewire programs
are installed on same machine. I obviously haven't tried it yet
personally.

May be someone else who may have used FL, could they share their
opinions? I'm downloading the demo version right now.

Not a Mac user, I am looking only pc based s/w. As for choosing the
sequencer goes i'm still undecided as I don't need anything very
complicated but a simple tool that can get the job done is all I need.

Thanks for your input,
