Chakravarthy and Ajit were close friends and the actor did not accept any film unless it was cleared by Chakravarthy. This friendship turned sour when Chakravarthy started his own production NIC arts. He produced many films with Ajit but none of them were hits. Still Ajit stood by him because Chakravarthy produced Vaalee under difficult conditions. Ajit was then facing a boycott of the directors. The film gave Ajit a fresh lease of life. The final straw was when Chakravarthy started rotating the money for acquiring a recording studio and other real estate ventures. This led to total block up of funds. Ji produced by NIc arts was released with great difficulty and it finally sank. Godfather project was born out of compulsion. With Ji the actor had decided to say goodbye to Chakravarthy but the latter went to the Producer's council stating that Ajit owed him money and in turn he wanted the actor to do one more film for him.Ajit agreed and thus was born Godfather. Chakaravarthy who has run out of money to finish found a letter from the Council stating that if he did not finish the film before June 15th 2005 then the dates of Ajit are with director Bala. The last schedule in Hyderabad was completed with money from Ravikumar. Now the film is royally stuck since Ajit has begun to grow his hair and beard for Bala's Naan Kadavul.
