RAHMAN Saturday, July 30, 2005 14:41:17 IST The Afternoon Despatch and Courier Hitting the right chords Every time he composes and sings a patriotic song, we feel like standing up and saluting as though it were our national anthem. When he sang Ma Tujhe Salaam, we said Rahman tujhe salaam for giving Indians a song that makes them proud of their country. Then he churned out Swades the title song for Ashutosh Gowarikar's last hit and that made us feel like we are missing our country so bad, even though we live right here. He also made the inspirational song in Aamir Khan's most memorable films -- Lagaan (Chale Chalo) and Sarfarosh (Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna). Both making us feel like getting up and giving it all for our country. Now we hear he is composing the title song for Mangal Pandey, another inspirational number. Rahman impeccably selects singer Kailash Kher - very rustic, very robust for this song. We are all ears for Rahman's latest masterpiece, waiting for an audio CD to come to us for a music review.
