I thinkt he reason to use 24 Bit may only benefit sound systems on the output end. in other words the system has more "sound" to work with and depending on the quality of the system. sound is output accordingly. Imagine this scenario - A creative audigy sound card currently will sound better with a 24 bit recording on a 16 bit Cd than a creative soundbalster live of the pre 2000 era.
