I think it shows that the fields of commercial and memorable music are diverging.
In today's world where music is judged by people based on the music videos, the actors and how much skin actresses show, and reviews of people who don't understand even the basic of music --- it is not at all surprising that this should happen. When people complain that yester years music was far better, they cannot be far from being hypocritical. Was the old music subjected to the same treatement by reviewers or did everyone just sit back to cherish and understand the melodies? Was the old music just a piece of junk to be hip-hopped to in a car or was it something you heard over and over in radio and understood what the tune and lyrics are speaking? I bet, 90% of old music would be flop, if released today. So, its not surprising that gems like Meenaxi, Swades, Rising, TLOBS, etc..flop commercially in the age of one-time wonders like Kaal Dhamal! -Ricky --- In [email protected], "Swaminathan Sivaramakrishnan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > If Mangal Pandey flops, it would be Rahman's 9th consecutive flop in Hindi...
