Dubai: India Vision, a leading Malayalam 24-hour news channel, will launch a
new entertainment
channel in Bahrain with an eye on the youth in Gulf countries, its chairman has
said.
"India Vision Satellite Communications will launch a second channel, focusing
on entertainment
for youngsters" as part of plans to strengthen its presence in Bahrain and in
other Gulf
countries, M K Muneer, who is also the Public Works Minister of Kerala, said.
"We are planning a major launching ceremony for the new channel in Bahrain
either in October or
November and one of India's most popular musicians, A R Rahman, will perform
live in Bahrain
with his troupe," he said.
Muneer was in Dubai to open India Vision's studio in the Media City, from where
it started
beaming programmes live for the first time, on Sunday night.
News bulletins and news-based programmes from the Gulf will now be telecast
live from the
studio in Dubai, he said, and termed Indian community in Gulf as the backbone
of the channel.
"Hundreds of expatriate Keralites in Bahrain and other Gulf countries have
become shareholders
in the venture, he said.
"We neglect our cities at our peril. For, in neglecting them, we neglect the
nation."
