A.R. Rahman burst onto the Tamil industry with the mega hit Roja. He carved a niche for himself with his unique musical style. He won the National Award thrice for Roja, Bombay and Minsara kanavu. He is the first Tamil music composer to get a Pan-Indian audience with many Hindi films under his belt. He is also the most internationally renowned composer in Indian film industry. He is the first Indian to score music for a Chinese film and he also set music for the theatrical venture, Bombay Dreams, which won wide acclaim with the British audience.
