Next: A world class studio in Chennai You are one of the few from the southern film industry who have not only entered Bollywood but also gone global. What would you attribute your success to?
My approach was different. If I had done what others were doing, I would have not made it in Hindi films. Even abroad, they don't want another John Williams. They want a different person with a different appraoch. Is there any bias in Bollywood against film personalities from the south? I don't think so. I have never experienced any bias. But you never made Mumbai your base. I love working from Chennai and I have a network of musicians here. It makes my job easy. I am also in the process of setting up a recording studio in Chennai, which will be world class and the best in the country. It will be opened in a short time. What are your forthcoming projects? Currently, I am working on Shekar Kapur's Buddha. Besides, I'm working on Lord of the Rings musical, which will be opened the next year. "We neglect our cities at our peril.
