We recorded `Nachley...' separately and I only met Daler Mehandi later at a private wedding where we were both guests and then again at the IFFA Awards where he complimented me saying, "A lot of singers sing in tune par aap sur mein gakar dilon ko jeetna jante hain." It made my day because I have a lot of respect for Daler as an artiste too. Lakeer was memorable for another reason. It was my first film with Rahman and I had been dying to work with him.
