Practically, I agree with what you say...but tell me do MD's who have given a couple of hit films survive? Think abt it....
Before few years, I felt that Sandeep Chowta was a competition with ARR. I was wrong, Afro-Celtic tunes wouldnt stand by him forever, and he has to compose original. I do appreciate his own way of music, but somewhere, Rahmanish sense was felt in his music.
As far as arr's talk goes, he has created his own competition..Frankly, he's got a place like Sting, MJ and Lata Mangeshkar who has very few to be compared with.
Bollywood wouldnt lose Rahman even if he doesnt give a mass hit. In fact, there are not many MDs who take the plunge of period movies. Or for that matter, producers approach only arr?
What first comes in your mind when you think of arr??? A bollywood hit?? But I am sure, that most of the fans would agree with me...first pic is of silence, peace and sooth. I dunno, if I am able to explain it.
And a step further, I guess we are able to identify us in his music. SO regardless of whether his music is a "hit" or "average", loyal fans would remain so forever.
