The backing vocals group was practising some song( i dont remember ...aazadi or thee thee).
ARR was on the keybs...
It happened so that some of the female vocals were not in sync with the scale ...they were out of the scale...
When this happend, ARR who was playing the chords, abruptly played out an ABHASWARAM (abrupt scale) on the keybs, explicitly showing the vocals that they were not singing in that shruthi...
We, ppl, really enjoyed the way, our ARR incidentally caught that with his musical humour...
Really a genius....

There was this humorous incident during the rehearsals.
It was Friday evening and the rehearsals were on. ARR was expected to join in around 8 PM. The
group had gathered in front of the stage and were watching the rehearsals. Once ARR came on, we

was rehearsing that night. He pushed the mic aside and began singing 'Jaage hain.." in an
inaudible voice. H Sridhar walked up to him and pushed the mic back towards him and asked for a
retake. The harmony sang the intro and ARR again began "Jaage hain" in as subdued a voice as
possible. The moment he finished "... watan" and went "aazaadi" we broke out into a loud
cheer... ARR broke into a wide grin and stopped singing abruptly, making it seem as if he
pushed the mic away deliberately expecting us to do somethnig like this :-)
