Hello everyone, I am a Doctoral student in the Dept of Media & Cultural Studies at the Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison. For my doctoral dissertation, I am conducting research on the convergence between Indian cinema and the Internet - to make this large topic manageable, I am focusing on film music in particular.
One of the key areas I am examining is the emergence of online fan communities. As a fan of ARR, I felt this was an ideal group of people whose insights would be of tremendous value. Specifically, I am interested in learning about the history of online fan activity, social interactions between fans in different parts of the world, the relationship that fan communities have with the media industry, and relationship with artists. I would greatly appreciate an opportunity to meet and discuss these issues with you. I have talked about this research with our moderator, Gopal and also attended the fan meeting that took place this afternoon in Bangalore. Over the next 2 months, I will also travel to Chennai, Hyderabad and Mumbai to talk to fans based there. I would greatly appreciate it if I could speak with as many fans based in India as possible.
