Music from the epic theater adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings (LOTR) will premiere at the opening ceremony of the World Travel Market exhibition on the 14th of November, 2005 at ExCeL London. Expected to become a worldwide hit, the C$27,000,000 production is touted as the biggest and most ambitious theatrical event ever staged. It will open at The Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada on March 23, 2006, with previews from February 2, 2006. A selection from the musical score by popular Indian composer A.R. Rahman and the renowned Finnish group Värttinä, in collaboration with Christopher Nightingale, will be publicly heard for the first time at ExCeL. Lyrics are composed by Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus. The international creative team, led by critically acclaimed director Matthew Warchus, award-winning designer Rob Howell and celebrated choreographer Peter Darling, has combined all three books into one theatrical event featuring a cast of 70 actors, singers and musicians. "This is going to be an opening ceremony like no other," said Fiona Jeffery, Group Exhibition Director. "It will create a totally different and dramatic effect, with a common thread running throughout the whole ceremony. The acclaimed LOTR creative team, in association with the exhibition's technical and production teams, are currently working on how we can best bring a taste of LOTR to the stage at the World Travel Market," Jeffery added "Theater enhances the experience enjoyed by travelers to many destinations across the world, from Toronto to London and from New York to Hamburg.
