This will be the first time in the history of world cinema that a director has ever done something on these lines. Mehra, who is currently busy with the post production work of his film Rang De Basanti, starring Aamir Khan, Kunal Kapoor and Soha Ali Khan confirmed the news when contacted. He plans to start work on Aks, only when his work on his Rang de Basanti winds up. I need three months and I can only get that time once I am through with the post production of Rang De Basanti. I am working double shifts on my editing. AR Rahman has composed some really good background score which we are incorporating now, he informs. The idea of re-releasing the film struck Mehra when an American organisation expressed an interest in releasing Aks in various theatres in the US. Recently, the DVD release of the film created some kind of interest among the viewers and the sale of the DVDs shows promise, says the director. Besides, after reading the reviews of the film, Mehra was motivated to re-shoot it too. Several film critics felt that I shouldn't have used religious connotations to justify my stance in the film. I respect their views and now will try it their way, he says. But would people be interested in a five-year-old film, which didn't exactly do well at the box-office. When I released the film, they said it was ahead of its time.
