The Provogue promotion for the UTV-Rakeysh Mehra film Rang De Basanti was a huge success, especially because of the presence of superstar Aamir Khan and artists like Daler Mehendi, who sang and danced to the music of A R Rahman. By Vimla Patil Aamir in Rang De Basanti >From the looks of it, it seems like the team of stars who worked for UTV-Rakeysh Mehra's film Rang De Basanti which premiere's on 20th January 2006 had a whale of a time during its production. The team, led by superstar Aamir Khan and lesser actors like Soha Ali Khan, Siddharth, Kunal Kapoor, Atul Kulkarni, Sharman Joshi and South Indian superstar Madhavan, have apparently become such close friends while shooting for the film, that they have been invited for Aamir Khan's wedding on 28th December 2005 in Panchgani, the hi-end hill resort near Mumbai. The team's spirit of friendship and fun was evident at one more event the recent promo held in Mumbai by the fashion house Provogue which presented its fall-winter collection of young and funky clothes inspired by the film and its actors. Provogue presented what the young in urban India will wear in the coming months and created collections ranging from club wear and resort wear to college and sports wear while promoting the film in a huge way! A scene from Rang De Basanti Top models of Mumbai sashayed on the ramp showing off clothes while the music of Rang De Basanti composed by A R Rahman resounded in the huge atrium of one of Mumbai's glittering malls. The event held the thick gathering of media persons and celebrities spellbound. The theme song of the film Rang De Basanti sung by Daler Mehendi, became an instant hit when the dholak-players danced on stage. Young vocalists, discovered by Rahman, performed many songs from the film. As if the event needed more excitement, the icing on the cake came when Aamir Khan and his troupe of stars walked the ramp and performed a Bhangra as media camerapersons screamed for him to dance. Aamir broke into a dance from the film, bringing the house down with resounding applause. Rang De Basanti is sure to attract huge crowds if this event is any yardstick. The film narrates the story of today's urban youth in India and its selfish search for material gains. Sue, an idealistic British woman, comes to India to do a film on freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad. For want of funds, she engages five students of Delhi University to do the film, with DJ Aamir Khan being one of them. During the shooting of the film, the troupe experiences the passion of Sue and slowly, begins to understand their responsibility towards their nation and the huge sacrifice of the martyrs of the freedom struggle. The film can be called the modern generation's Discovery of India! With such innovative promos and the impending marriage of its lead star, the film is a subject of huge audience curiosity and is sure to do well worldwide! As far as Aamir Khan's wedding preparations go, the couple have spared no efforts. The Il Palazzo Hotel in Panchgani, where the celebrations will happen, has been put under complete security and spruced up for the celebrity guests who include Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Juhi Chawla, Rani Mukherjee, Ashutosh Gowarikar and all top celebrities of Bollywood. The cottage, where the bridal couple will stay, has been decorated in red and white the colours of the season and the couple's favourite colours. From red and white curtains and upholstery to aromatic candles in the same colours and the sumptuous menu everything has been finalized. Several other hotels nearby have been reserved for guests at the reception.
