Happy Birthday, A R Rahman!        By Moviebuzz    Friday, 06 January ,
2006, 10:17         A.R Rahman is celebrating his birthday today. This year is
a crucial one for him, especially because 2005 had seen him in diminished form,
with hardly a chartbuster to his credit. Instead, he was concentrating more on
his international assignments.   The two films he did in Hindi- Mangal Pandey -
The Rising and Kisna bombed badly and the response to his only Tamil release Aa
Aah was lukewarm, though it had a peppy number "Mayilazage.." .   Pretenders to
his throne like Harris Jayaraj and Yuvan Shankar Raja ruled the charts. The
trouble with Rahman's music was that it was not able to strike a chord with the
Ringtone generation, which wants only funky sounds.   Critics also point out
that he has lost touch with Tamil film music and today's generation. However,
this is not the truth as Rahman was the music director who had actually shaped
the youth generation of the 90's. In reality, he
was concentrating more on his Bombay Dreams and other international
assignments, and had little time for Tamil projects that really made him what
he is today!   In 2006, the maestro has decided to strike back with a vengeance
in Tamil music scenario with a slew of biggies like Sivaji, Godfather,
Dasavatharam, Jillendru Oru Kathal and Vikraman's new film. The A.R
Rahman-Shankar team is the greatest combination in Tamil film music - a truly
unbeatable pair!   The music in Sivaji promises to rock Kollywood, as all the
five songs and the background score are being prepared with great care. After
hearing the first song in Sivaji, which had a lot of Arabic sounds, Rajnikant
was hugely impressed and told people close to him that Rahman has finally
struck form.   We at Sify.com wish the maestro all the best on his birthday and
hope that 2006 will be the year of A.R Rahman.
