Hi fellows,
I thought of listening to the soundtrack many times before writing
something about it.
Well let me repeat, RANGE DE BASANTI soundtrack has everything.
In terms of music, if you want:
1)Bhangra - Rang de basanti
2)Classical- Luka chupi (esp second half)
3)Techno- Pathshala
4)Love duet- Tum bin bataye
5)Arabian - Khalabali
6)Devotional- Ik onkar
7)Remix- Be a rebel
8)Dialogue song- Lalkar

I mean almost every song falls into a different genre and how many
times can one come across such an album.
If you go to lyrics, they are simply superb. WHY??? Reason is it has
classy lyrics in songs like RDB, luka chupi, tum bin bataye. But in
other songs like Patshala, khalabali and roobaroo, the lyrics are
very simple, yet meaningful and nothing nonsense.
The lyrics themself remind of early 90s ARRahman songs, stuff like
Rangeela and Hello doctor songs.I feel more criticism for youthful
songs is expected from the seasoned fans like say myself, or gops or
vijay iyer(im saying just for eg) who are now in late 20s or early
30s. But when i was 18 years old and listened to rangeela, the effect
would was exactly similar to a college student listening to RDB now.
But ireally enjoyed the youthful lyrics too. Stuff like SHEESHI
BOTHAL PEE LEE HAY,RAATH NEELI NEELI HAY, ...GHAR BATHA KE AAYE
HAIN,.....and DEKHO LAMBOO SHOR HAY, BURBUR KARTHA H2SO4 HAY.

even the word SALA has only been used twice in ARR's music.
Incidentally the only time before was in Rangeela's KYA KARAY KYA NA
KARAY and this time again its in Aamir Khan starrer ROOBAROO.
So in my opinion, there are many good reasons to believe that Rang
De Basanti is one gem of an album and its Vintage ARRahman of mid
90's .
Take care and comment plz!!!
