A big letdown for the crowd was that he sang only 2 tamil songs,Thaniye thaniye(rhythm) and Sandhana thendral(kandukondein),but both were part of medleys of "songs close to our hearts" as Shankar and Mahalakshmi Iyer put it. Rahman songs were aplenty,including Urvashi urvashi,Dil se re(sung by some newbie called Rahman(?) ),and the usual Shankar Mahadevan rendering of Ghanan Ghanan with him going into a trance at the end,mesmerising the crowd with his sten-gun-fire of swaras.This new guy Rahman was good in his renditions of Sonu Nigam numbers. Blaaze featured in the show with 2 raps,one of Bunty n Bubly,the other,a new one extempore for IITians,moving on to Main aisa kyon hoon. Srinivas joined later for a rendering of kaisi hai yeh rut and later Vijay Yesudas for Koi kahe. Mostly the songs were from DC,KHNH and BnB.Mahalakshmi Iyer was the lead female vocalist.The stage presence of Shankar Mahadevan was something to talk about.It may not have the grandeur of an ARR show but the show rocked!!
