Aamir Khan posing patiently with the Hungama gang Pic: Rakesh Dave |
Off to a colourful start
Raising a hungama The Hungama team captains who are in Mumbai for the Hungama board meet were in starry heaven at the premiere. Most of these kids saw Bollywood glamour for the first time in person and they couldn't stop raving about their experience.
Says Saransh Seth from Gujarat, "Aamir Khan was so down to earth. We thought he would be over confident but he was really nice to us. He even posed for a picture with us." In fact the kids even managed to get Saif Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon, Sameera Reddy and Kirron Kher to smile and say cheese with them. The power of kids we tell you.
Aamir ke naam Most who have watched Rang De Basanti have been inspired by it's message to awaken a generation. But, Ashmeet Singh from Kolkata had a different inspiration – he turned creative and wrote a poem on Aamir Khan, which he personally delivered to him. Of course, Aamir being Aamir promised to read it later and let him know what he thought.
Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke Andaaz Apna Apna Lekar Ishq Karne Aai Hai Rangeela Dil Chahta Hai
Hum Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak Ghulam Apke Ban Gaye Mangal Pandey Sarfarosh The Par Aap Raja Hindustani Hai
Aap Rang De Basanti Kyonki Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin Har Lagaan Ise Kabool Hai Kyonki Aap Ko Chod Kisi Aur Ko Pehchente Nahin
Akele Hum Akele Tum Par Jahan Aap Ho Wahan Mela Hi Mela Hai Jeet Jao Aap Zindagi Ki Har Ek Jung Kyonki Joh Jeeta Wohi Sikander
The Bangalore connection Nivedhana Prabhu from Bangalore was proud of her hometown because of its close and newly found reference to Aamir Khan. "When I told Aamir I was from Bangalore he looked at me and smiled. I think it was because Kiran is also from Bangalore."

Sidelights
Aamir Khan's kids sure seem to have taken a liking for Kiran Rao. Ira, Aamir's daughter was clutching on to Kiran's hand as they entered (well in time may we add) the venue for the Rang De Basanti premiere. Kiran fit into the hostess role nicely. She greeted all the celebrities who came with a hug and chatted them up.
And so impressed was she with the luxurious seats at the Red Lounge of Cinemax that we overheard her telling Kabir Bedi, "Once you go in there, you don't want to leave."
The star may have refused to talk to the media to promote Rang De Basanti, but Aamir Khan was all thanks at its premiere. At the end of the film he (along with the rest of the cast and crew) personally visited all six screens that were showing the film to speak to the audiences about what they thought and thank them for coming. Here's to more graciousness.
Chhota nawab Saif Ali Khan made sure he was there to cheer his little sister on before heading to the Kapoor khandaan wedding. Hugging, talking and posing for the camera, Soha and Saif took sibling revelry to a whole new level
