i've been closely watching the posts about GodFather music. According to me, GF is equally better as other A R Rahman albums. One thing which we must rememer that, A R Rahman creates music for movies and he is not creating music albums alone.
The thing which separates him from contemporary musicians is the fact the he creates music which blends with the movie and becomes a part of the movie rather than standing out. Rang De Basanti is the best example for that. One wondered when the music for RDB was released, how was it going to be a success. But see, once the movie was released, the music became a huge hit (not just huge, it is hard to explain). If you see the work of other musicians, they have to release different versions of the same music to make it noticable like a Jazz version, a Pop version etc. Now in Bollywood, it is a trend to make different versions of the same number in different genres. You must have noticed a music
album released a couple of weeks back, there were 3 different CD's released for a single movie with 3 different genres (Country, Pop and Jazz). Even then the music didn't catch up anywhere near RDB.
This is the true magic of AR Rahman, he is situational and he knows his job. Wait for the movie God Father to release and then if you all find the music is not good, then let us criticize his music.
For me, i've been playing GodFather since i received the CD a week back and the CD never saw sunlight after that. ('coz it never comes out of my cd player).
