finally watched bombay dreams here in orange county( http://www.ocpac.org/onstage/ Event.asp?EventID=572 ). It was two hours of pure Rahman magic. The show was very good - better than what I had expected it to be. The cast were all new and most of them did a good job singing but the dialogs for the most part were pathetic. My favorite ooh lala song was replaced by a version of mujhe rang de. there was also a bhangra song which is not in the CD. It looked like the show was sold out and going by the audience reactions, shakalaka and chaiya chaiya were the big winners. Before the show started, they played videos of these songs - chaiya chaiya, main albeli, chale chalo mitwa (nayak), dandiya song from dil hi dil mein, ni main samajh gayi (taal) and shakalaka.
