Hi all, sorry for the delay in posting this message. As reported by one fellow group member, the interviewer put the questions (almost all) in Malayalam and a few in Tamil. ARR understood the questions well (the only time he seemed confused was when he was asked about his fans - he didn't understand the Malayalam word for that) and answered them mostly in Tamil and a bit in English. Actually, there was nothing new in the questions asked. Almost all the questions and answers were what we've known over the years from various interviews of his. A couple of points:
- He was quizzed on his taking up 'Yoddha' - he said Santosh Sivan met him during the making of 'Roja' and thus he took it up. He said he worked on both almost simultaneously.
- He said it was Javed Akhtar who prompted him to take up 'Kabhi Na Kabhi' instead of 'Kalapani' (Malayalam).
- He likes Kerala food and 'Mappila Paattu' (music of Muslims of North Kerala). He said 'Ottagathai Kettikko' and 'Jiya Jale' had been influenced by/inspired from the latter. Also, he said he'd used 'Kerala horns' - used in the temples of Kerala during festivals - in 'Mangal Pandey'.
- He hinted at the possibility of a Hollywood project shaping up soon.
- A number of pics and video clips (some of which showed him working with some foreign musicians - I haven't seen these clips before) were also shown. Notably, a pic of his with IR and the pics of his new studio - first posted here by Rano and now available at Sound Wizard's website - were shown. The 'Making of 'Lukka Chuppi'' video was also shown.
- He also spoke of LoTR as a different experience.
- While talking about his family, at one point, he referred to his mother as his 'business partner'; I didn't understand what he meant by that. He also spoke about the goodwill his father enjoyed among other musicians (in similar terms as in the 'Talk Asia' show)
- No new projects - other than what we know - were mentioned.
- He said he keeps in touch with his fans through emails and chats. [No mention about the Group, :( ].
Hope I was able to recall all that was there to be. Sorry if I missed any point.Manoj
