those who are not from Singapore would not have heard about Shabir.
I just thought of using this yahoogroups as a medium to spread word
about him.
Shabir took part in a talent search competition organised by
Singapore's Indian channel, Vasantham Central. The show was titled
Vasantham Star. Shabir wowed the audiences with A.R. Rahman's hits
such as 'Antha Arabic Kadaloram', 'Enakkoru Girlfriend'
and 'Columbus'. Eventually, the audience were so thrilled with his
performance (which were made even more amazing because of his choice
of songs) that he was eventually crowned as 'Vasantham Star' as he
earned the most votes.
He placed that 'Vasantham Star' exposure to good use and has
recently released his own album entitled "Alaipayuthae". Check out

He has wrote in his website how ARR has inspired him to compose
songs. LOOK AT THE AMAZING POWER THE GREAT ARR HAS! WHAT CAN BE
GREATER THEN INSPIRING THE YOUNG TO DREAM AND SPUR THEM ON TO
ACHIEVE THEIR DREAM, EVEN WITHOUT DIRECT CONTACT WITH THEM?! TRULY

I believe a man without dreams is a man without direction. I have
always had a dream for the past 10 years. It all started when I
first heard A.R.Rahman's music, I fell in love with his pieces and
was inspired many years later to compose my own songs. Coming from a
modest background, I faced many challenges to reach here. Although
it had been rough, it was a wonderful journey. A journey that I will
cherish for the rest of my life.
