One of my friends who attended the concert at Dayton (USA) said that
it was very good and Boss' vocals were very good. The singers it seems
were short of experience; but the percurssion was top class in
general, and in particular for the song from Taal.
A couple of gestures as closely observed by friend were really
fantastic and so typical of Boss..
1. It seems for the Zikr song, ARR sir explained that a prayer song
should be sung with utmost conviction and proper attire (no shoes,
people must be traditionally dressed). And for this song all the 150
or so members changed their costume (mind you, most of them were
amereicans!!) and sang with full conviction.
2. I was struck by this particulare gesture by Boss. It seems for a
particular song (pardon me - as my friend could not recollect the
song) two bass guitars were needed. Due to some technical audio output
problems, the only technician on the stage was holding a mike for one
of the bass guitar players. Boss was walking around humming the song
it seems. When the lead guitarist was helpless (as the audio output
was down) in rendering his portion, Boss himself came and held the
mike for the player, earnestly and in a timely fashion. My friend was
totally bowled by this and sounded a bit emmotional..both of us were
totally stunned when we discussed this - a man of his stature yet so
humble and down-to-earth..We have heard of many of his humble acts but
not when you watch it live and that too spontaneously..
Hats off to ARR for these gestures..:)
