There seems to be confusion about Madhavan's
presence/absence in Mani Rathnam's under-production
Hindi film 'Guru'.
But here's the truth.
Speaking exclusively to this writer from London, Maddy
laughed. "I don't know why these confusions are being
created. I'm very much on for 'Guru'. In fact, I join
the unit of 'Guru' from 14 May in Chennai," says the
affable Tamil star.
The inexplicable is-he-in-is-he-out speculations
started when another actor, Arya Babbar, (Raj Babbar's
son) was signed for 'Guru'. To set the record
straight, Arya was signed for the grey-coloured role
of Aishwarya Rai's brother. Arya, apparently, is
Abhishek's surrogate-son in the film. When Arya was
signed, people presumed it was for the role that
Madhavan was offered. However, Madhavan's is the
parallel lead opposite Vidya Balan.
Laughing aloud, Maddy says, "Why is everyone so
bothered about whether I'm doing the film or not? As
for me losing weight in LondonÂ….yes, I'm working on
that. Isn't it good to stay trim and healthy
irrespective of whether a role requires it or not?"
Maddy is currently family-less in London. "I'm missing
my little son Vedant like hell. Can't wait to come
backi." Besides the Rathnam film, there are other
interesting developments in Maddy's career in Mumbai,
including a film with Sanjay Gupta.
Chuckles Maddy, "Actually everyone associated with
'Rang De Basanti' has gained tremendously. I'm no
exception. Thank God I did the film although a lot of
people warned me the role was too minuscule. It's my
best career move so far in Hindi. Here in London
everywhere I go I'm congratulated for 'Rang De
Basanti'. Rakeysh Mehra and Mani Rathnam are two
directors for whom I'd happily do any film. No
questions asked."
