I bought the album today..just heard it briefly...i cant comment on it so early but wutever i hv heard was brilliant. All trks hv shades of ARR..ther r 9 trks:
1. Fluid (lounge)
2. Bombay Theme(Naveen's version)...it has a western opera start
3. Mohana (Typically carnatic with mridangam,veena n ghatam...also it has resemblences to Nenthukitten frm Star n Theekkuruvi frm KKS)
4. Chennai Rain(totally inspired by vintage ARR..u'll remember folk tunes frm Karuthamma,KC,P.Mannargal,etc)
5. Jiya jale (quite diff frm original...it has harps, piano n subtle percussions)
6. Symphony (total western symphony..u'll rem titan ad)
7. First Light (Very Hindustani...blend of many morning ragas like Bhairav,Bhatiyar,Ahir Bhairav,Puriya Dhanashree,etc)
8. You n I (It has Naveen's vocals n kids choir..quite impressive)
9. Essence (Ends with a classical piece in Pilu n Patadeep)
Overall a worthy effort by Naveen...the musicians r all frm ARR's camp...
Kalyan(Violin), Rajesh Vaidya(Veena), Srinivas(Mridangam), Keith Peters (Bass), Rashid Ali (Guitar), Karthik (Ghatam), George Peter, Jim Satya & many international artists. SIVAMANI is the lead percussionist...so it adds to the brilliance.
