hi fellow Rahmaniacs, Rahman really rocks with Guru, my small review about the album,
After a week from its official music release, Guru hits music stands, and when it comes, its really a 'hit' at the stands. This classic album, like 'Rang De Basanti', is a completely different composition from anything you have ever heard. Guru starts with the 'Barso Re', a song that rains on you with all the magic a rain can bring. Shreya's rendition of Na re na re is as sizzling as the rain drops. Then comes the ultimate 'Tera Bina', the song sung by Rahman himself dedicated to Nusret Fateh Ali Khan. This one will mesmerize you with its Rahman magic. Its a terrific combination of Sufi music with folk and classical touches. This one is yet another Rahman signature song. Bappi lahari then gives the funfilled rendition of 'Ek Lo Ek Muft'. The sensual 'Mayya Mayya' follows, and with it comes an entirely fresh kinda music with east Indian rendition by Mayyam Toller. This already sensual song is supposed to be set on fire by Mallika on screen. Hariharan fans, hold your breadth, for next comes 'Aye Hairathe', an instantly likable Ghazal. Even those who dont like the soft ghazal songs, will fall for this Rahman-Hariharan magic. Next, Udit Narayanan springs up the mode with the 'Baazi laga'. The final track 'Jaage Hain' rendered by Chitra and Rahman, will take you to the crescend with its amazingly orchastraed opera. Rahman set a whole new world of music with Roja. Guru is now here, giving a whole new meaning for mainstream Indian music! Guru and Rahman continues to Rock!!! The album is distributed by Sony BGM and is prized at 160 Rs. But then who is anyway worried about the price tag when buying a Rolls Royce :) Rahmaniac, Sarath.
