I dont think you can say that RDB was consistent for 25 years. If you look at his career graph, he had first hit in "Teesri Kasam", which came in 1966. he had great time from then to early 80s. But by then his number of his were few and rare. I think between 80 - 85 he had only few hits like Saagar, Masoom, Betaab, Shakti etc.
But after 85, almost all his scores were big time flops. (I am not running down his abilities). I would say the most consistent hot maker in hindi film industry was Laxmikanth Pyarelal. They had their first hit parasmani in 1963 and they had hits all the way till 1993 (Khalnayak). Thats 30 years .. now thats something which nobody has achieved in hindi film industry. PS.
