PROVOKED
Unable to bear the repeated sexual assaults by her husband, Karanjit Ahluwalia
(Aishwarya Rai) sets him on fire to kill him. Charged with first degree murder,
she is sentenced to life imprisonment. In jail, she befriends a white woman and
learns English. Her cell mate is so moved by her story that she asks her
stepbrother to file an appeal. Karanjit is freed in a landmark case called
Regine vs Ahluwalia. She then reunites with her children and is given an award
by the Prime Minister's wife for her crusade against domestic violence.
