i agree dir.shankar himself okayed d songs due to rajni's preference. most of
us can feel when rajni fans could enjoy much more than now why they want to
limitize sounds. it is very clear both arr & shankar caught in rajni's taste &
limitations. these songs will undoubtedly suit rajni. but i could also say
dir.shankar might like to go in for some other choice of songs as well other
than these offered by rahman but he took these as he could not convince more to
make this dominating hero understand certain unheard sounds by arr will also
suit rajni.
Question here is Arr fans expectation having enjoyed rahman songs in other
hero films. Otherwise songs might sound entirely different to arr's as well as
shankar's taste & ideas. Proof - let us hope for another Shankar film soon next
year or later with rahmans music and with some other hero be it senior or
junior & one can challenge rajni fans should not blame shankar & rahman for not
giving such unique songs to their thalaivars movie. During that time they will
again fail to realize it is all nothing but superstar's choice or choice of
people who r close to superstar mainly.

Rajni had excellent music for his films in the past like Padayapa, Muthu and
Basha etc ...
My personal opinion is that Best two songs from Rahman to Rajni are
1.Oruvan oruvan mudhalali, Initial orchestration is evergreen, I just love it
from my heart.
2.Vetrikodi kattu ..Excellent western and folk mix , no one except rahman can
do this magic, this one is so philosophical(Typical words for Rajni), so
western kind of new remix trend in indian music.

Rajni sir do not want to risk his image with young grand sounds created by Arr.
And arr is more sophisticated with his ideas he has to come down bit to create
rajni tunes & not arr tunes. Whenever rajni works in a movie the trend
continues in music right from 1980s. From 90s music in his movies reflect it is
also rajni's choice to have those tunes & not just dir. & prod. choice. One of
the reasons, majority of his fans are seniors & from good old days of rajni
right from 1980s. I really doubt whether this present younger generation how
far they can enjoy rajni's taste of music is what reflected thro rahman fans
who r not happy with such tunes or if it is rajni fans who r not happy then
they all seniors & to them rahmans sophisticated approach or experiment is too
much to go gaga. Either rajni sir shld give complete freedom to rahman to feel
the magic or Rahman can better need not show his
sophistication & go very very simplest to make rajni fans feel haa this is wat
v need & thats enough. Result Arrs music in rajni movies are a kind of half for
rajni fans & half for arr fans. To such fans a balancing problem of not able to
enjoy completely or not able to dislike totally.
