Budding musicians will now get a chance to stand before AR Rahman as he judges what promises to be the most prestigious musical band hunt. The winning team will cut an album with him in his studio and may even get a chance to work for him. While technology has made music composing much easier, the whole effort is to spot extraordinary talent. "Lots of people use computers to play music. The joy of playing is lost. The initiative is to get these people who are extraordinarily talented and to showcase them," said AR Rahman, Music Director. Renowned singer Vasundhara Das will also be part of the selection. For the first time], even the accompanying instrumentalists will get the recognition they deserve and may push many to the limelight. "Music is not all about the singer being in the forefront. It's about how six people get together and write music and play it. I think in that sense it's great," said Vasundhara Das, Singer. It is clearly an opportunity of a lifetime for budding bands, and soon a new breed of musicians could be entertaining music lovers across the country.
