Another successful performance from THE WANDERING SOULS of Pune of
their HIT programme RAHMANIA in Pune yesterday evening ( April 18 )!!
The Venue was the Grand 2000+ capacity Ganesh Kala Krida auditorium
and this time the group had tried a new sound system and the positive
effects were immediately noticed.
Unlike their earlier performances, this time, the group experimented
a lot with the sequence of the songs with great success. They started
with "Mera Rang De Basanti" from TLOB and without a break performed
18 songs back to back ! The new additions this time were "Khalbali -
RDB" "Kismat se tum - Pukaar" and "Rang De Basanti - RDB"
Due to timing restrictions, the group had to let go many of the foot
tapping numbers but some how without these, the programme turned into
a soft and romantic journey into Rahman's music. And the crowd
responded very well.
Like always, the group was supported by the Chief ANMOL Bhave and
Tejas Lagvankar on Keyboards with Pinak & Natu also joining in. On
Vocals, apart from the favourits like Ashutosh, Jasraj, Sandeep, we
had the old hand Kedar Bapat from this group who was called to join
at the last minute and this chap obliged coming all the way from
Baroda !!! He was a Hit with Roja Janeman and Ishq Bina. The girls
also were outstanding like aways, leading the pack was Swarada,
Swarali, Pallavi and Megha. Pallavi's SHAKALAKA BABY from Bombay
Dreams literally brought the house down !
Satyajeet's flute performance of Bombay theme was something worth
experiencing and he brought extra punch in the performance this time
with new set of bamboo flutes ! He was too good..........
This show did deliver a consistant performance dispite last minute
glitches such as sudden tour of Ajat Atre, Hrishikesh Ranade and
the "DIFFICULT" and at times "UNEXPLAINABLE" attitude of the media
management company who had contracted the group to give the
performance.
Dispite this, the group DELIEVERED handsomely and I am sure, they
will get more and more opportunities to showcase their talent to
RAHMAN fans in other cities.
My Aim is to give this chance to show their capacity and grasp of
Rahman's music to RAHMAN himself !!!
Will the GURU notice them ???? Inshallah ! Some day HE will !!!!!
Congratulations to THE WANDERING SOULS ! You are now truely
PROFESSIONALs !
Best regards
Dinesh Vaidya
