Apparently there was a 12 AM deadline at the venue ----- Original Message ---- From: superstarksa <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, June 18, 2007 9:01:19 PM Subject: [arr] Re: NY Concert Song List
I have to agree with Gopal on this one, at least as far as the NYC concert is concerned. I have always had misgivings about Sukhwinder on stage because a couple of times I have seen him live / recordings on stage, he seems to have lost his way, particularly with Chaiyya Chaiyya. One such instance was during a earlier tour in 2004, where I saw him live in Ypslanti / Detroit leg. But he was a revelation this time. I don't know about Ramta Jogi or Ni mein samaj gayi, Chaiyya Chaiyya / Thaiyya Thaiyya was the best I have seen him sing the song. I have always thought that Thaiyya Thaiyya (the slower Punjabi version) was the better of the two versions in that soundtrack and so it was a pleasant surprise. But the other two songs, maybe one of them could have been swapped for Chanda Re because that is a trademark Hariharan number. Also there was a lot of people cheering for Mustafa Mustafa, so that number could have been accommodated too. Btw, was there any "should finish by midnight" rule? I am sure people would have stayed on for a couple more songs, particularly if they were Hindi numbers. anantha. --- In [email protected], Gopal Srinivasan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > To be fair to Sukhvinder, he really is the best singer on stage. He surpasses everyone else with his energy levels, enthusiasm and improvisation. But yes, it did look like he got carried away at NY, for a large part singing stuff that wasn't even ARR related. As for Ni Main samajh Gayi, I can't understand what it's doing in the concert lineup and why it wasn't scrapped instead of the other songs. If Sukhvinder had to sing a fourth song, he could have sung Chinnamma Chilakamma or something. > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Karthik.
