I think in recent years Rahman wants to be simple in his song structure/orchestratraions and mainly lyrics. You can see it in Khoon chala, Jaage hain, Pray for me brother, Sahara (slow) and Alive etc. And my vote goes to 'Alive' , what a simple melody with nice piano background.... :)
