US rock band Goldspot will be making music history on August 6 by releasing both a Hindi and an English version of their new single.
The Bollywood-influenced track Friday features the vocal talents of Indian lead singer Siddhartha Khosla and musical arrangements by famous Bollywood composer AR Rahman. The Hindi version of the song gives the frontman the opportunity to reach into his desi roots. He says listening to golden legends such as Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi as a child was one of the inspirations behind the move to create the Hindi version. Born to first generation Punjabi parents from Delhi, who later settled in New Jersey in the US, Khosla lived in a household where Indian culture was always dominant. He said: "I've had great fun writing the Hindi version, with transatlantic calls to the whole family, to make sure the translations were right! "For me, the highlight was really the trip to India to work with AR Rahman - he added his unique magic to both the English and Hindi versions, giving it that melody and richness that I associate with classic Hindi film music." Friday is the second track to be taken from the band's much loved debut album Tally of the Yes Men. http://www.asianimage.co.uk/news/latest/display.var.1575549.0.rocker_g oes_back_to_desi_roots.php
