Hi all,

As I promised, I am back - with tidbits shared by Sujatha, Karthik and Raihana
on Rahmania show....
(I'm writing all of these from my memory, so, pls excuse any inaccuracies)

Karthik:
"I was such a big fan of Rahman sir, I never even dreamt that i could become a
playback singer, let alone singing in Rahman sir's music. Singer Shrinivas is a
relative of one of my friends, and thru my friend i got to meet him. I really
wanted to meet him, because he is closely associated with Rahman.... At that
time, I thought 'i donno if i can ever meet rahman sir, It would be great to
meet someone who has closely interacted with him'!!
But, Shrinivas sir asked me if i could sing, and he asked me to give a cd with
my voice, and he passed it on to ARR... almost a year later, Shrinivas sir
called and told me that I needed to go to ARRs studio... I couldnt believe it..
it was for a harmony part... It was great!!"

"I have sung harmony for many songs, including the latest 'sana nana... ma mana
nana' bit in Adhiradi (Sivaji). Tippu, Devan, I and others used to have great
fun during the harmony recordings... Even a year after I first sang for ARR, he
used to get confused between me and Tippu, and often used to refer to me as
Tippu!!! He would want tippu to sing a part again, but would say 'Karthik,
please sing it'... and i would start off... and he woud say 'oh... i meant
KARTHIK' but pointing to TIPPU!! It was great fun...."

"Even after singing so many songs as the lead singer, I still long to sing
harmonies for him...It is a whole new learning experience.. Each time I work
with him, especially for harmonies, i learn a lot...Even recently I called up
Rahman sir and asked him if there are any songs for which I could join in the
harmony..."

That's pretty much what I found really interesting about ARR, from Karthik's
interview... I will write excerpts from Sujatha's interview in my next mail...

Cheers,
Aravind
