One person's boring and tedious is another person's haunting, soulful, enchanting, and soothing. It just baffles me how so many of you find this soundtrack boring and tedious, while acknowledging some hangovers and similar sounding songs. There is a lot of quiet space in this soundtrack, which I find so refreshing. There is so much beautiful music, crisp arrangements, delicate ornamentation, soothing melodies, haunting alaaps, ethnic sounds, subtle soundscapes. I agree there are weaknesses, but it seems that most are ignoring the hard work put into this soundtrack by a relatively debutant MD. As a music composer myself, I can empathize and relate very well how difficult it is to live up to expectations. It's got to be tough when you have an egotistical director like SLB constantly nosing his weight and influence on his music preferences. Saawariya to me has an enchanting old world charm to its sound and very raaga based with poignant melodies, and while I agree that there may not be many takers due to this, it's what makes this soundtrack special amidst an overabundance of noisy, massala, rhythm oriented soundtracks. Thank goodness for soundtracks like Saawariya the remind us of the soulful and soothing side to good music, and pay some tribute to the old world evergreen era. Final suggestion: Listen to Saawariya on headphones to hear the delicate arrangements. --- In [email protected], Gopal Srinivasan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > ARR's music does not exist in vacuum.
