  The two Bollywood Diwali biggies — SRK’s “Om Shanti Om” and Sanjay Leela 
Bhansali’s “Saawariya” — are already being aggressively promoted on rival news 
channels. Added to that, both are said to have set aside Rs. 15-20 crore each 
for brand-related promotion such as merchandising, contests, hoardings, print, 
television and Internet campaign! Never before has so much money been spent to 
promote any Indian movie! Compare this with the ad expenditure and promotion of 
Diwali releases in Kollywood. First and foremost, the trade is still in the 
dark about which film will release for Diwali! 
   
  
  The only sure film seems to be “Vel”, which at least had an audio launch, 
while “Azhagiya Tamil Mahan” is yet to release its A.R. Rahman audio and has 
just one hoarding near the Gemini fly-over that states: Coming Soon!
