  How it happened

My friend Shrinivas (singer) introduced me to Rahman sir. Once you step into
this music wizard’s studio, destiny is sure to change. I had been part of the
chorus for a year, then D Day arrived. Rahman sir was recording for the film
Star and I did one of the tracks. As luck would have it, he decided to retain
my voice for that number. The director too gave the nod, and since then, life
has been a song! I used to be anxious about my unending chorus stint and today
I realise how fortunate I have been to emerge as a soloist. One year is not
really long in film industry parlance.

  How it felt

It is a crooning glory to record your debut solo song (“Nenthukitten”) with
an internationally acclaimed composer. Initially, my friends refused to believe
it was me singing the song. They said I sounded different.

  How life changed

Contracts, rushing in and out of studios, rehearsals, shows…life took a
360-degree turn. Suddenly you are famous and stopped for autographs and
pictures. Fame is fun but comes with a lot of responsibility.
